A New Era for Our Community is Just Around the Corner
We’re thrilled to share the latest update on our facility expansion – a project that’s been years in the making and is now just months away from reopening. Thanks to your patience and ongoing support, we are closer than ever to welcoming you back into a revitalized community hub designed for connection, celebration, and wellness.
Current Construction Progress
Much of the heavy lifting is behind us. Most of the exterior work is complete, with the final touches—doors, fixtures, and exterior paint—currently in progress. Inside, the drywalls are up and flooring is installed, while painting, fixture installation, and finishing details are well underway. We are steadily transforming from construction site to community space.
Why the Delay?
As anyone who’s worked on a major construction project knows, unexpected challenges are part of the process. Here’s a snapshot of what we’ve encountered:
- Unique landscape conditions in Panorama Hills demanded advanced surveying and engineering to ensure long-term safety and stability.
- Global market conditions delayed delivery of key components—weeks at a time—stalling construction at pivotal moments.
- Labour scheduling issues arose due to staggered engineering and supply delays, compounding project timelines.
Despite the setbacks, we’re happy to report that the builder is now confident in smoother sailing ahead. We’re targeting partial occupancy in July—marking a major milestone on the path to full reopening.
What’s Included in the Expansion
This project isn’t just about more space—it’s about offering more value and possibility to our members. We’re tripling our original footprint and adding:
- A 150-person Event Centre with full kitchen
- A 100-person Program Centre
- Outdoor Lounge area
- Members Lounge
- Boardroom for meetings and programming
- A welcoming lobby with a member services counter and offices
- A lift for accessible access to both the park and indoor spaces
Soft Reopening
Once we’re granted occupancy, our team must get the facility ready for community use. This includes:
- Final inspections and builder quality checks
- Setting up essential utilities like internet, electricity, and water
- Taking delivery of equipment needed: tables, chairs, office furniture
- Securing necessary permits and licenses
- Training new staff
- Developing new safety protocols
- Testing and finalizing all internal systems
For these reasons, we’re aiming for a soft reopening. This means we’ll begin operating the facility at partial capacity—some services, like indoor rentals, will not be available right away. However, we hope to make outdoor amenities like the park, splash park, and multi-sport court accessible during this period.
Looking Ahead to Our Grand Reopening
The soft reopening phase gives us time to refine operations and ensure your experience exceeds expectations. Once we meet key milestones, we’ll announce our Grand Reopening Celebration later—a time for all of us to come together and mark the start of an exciting new chapter.
Facility Rentals
Facility rentals will resume at the grand reopening and will initially be available with 12-month advance booking privileges. A new facility page will be on our website will provide all the details that expect.
